MEDIA, Pa. – It was a bittersweet final women's cross country race for Gallaudet University senior
Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) here Saturday at the 2025 United East championship hosted on the campus of Penn State Brandywine.
Armstrong finished the 6K course in 46th place with a time of 33 minutes and 29.08 seconds, which was nine minutes faster than two months prior when the Bison got a sneak peek of the championship course. Armstrong ran the technical and hilly course and finished in 42:57.71 on Sept. 12.
First year
Jala Furdge (Brandon, Miss.) made similar improvement strides like Armstrong. Furdge finished 57th overall in 36:34.23 which was over nine minutes faster than two months ago when she posted a time of 45:53.69.
Cairn University junior Clarisse Hayden won the 6K championship for a second year in a row with a time of 23 minutes and 58.48 seconds among a field of 66 runners. The first-place finish gave Hayden the 2025 United East Women's Runner of the Year award for a second time.
St. Mary's College of Maryland won the team championship for a fifth straight year with 53 team points as the Seahawks had five runners finish in the top 18 spots. Lancaster Bible College was just five points behind in second with 58 points. Penn State Harrisburg rounds out the podium in third place with 84 points. There were nine schools that posted a team score, Gallaudet was not one of them as three schools had four or less runners.
