SALISBURY, Md. - Gallaudet University first-year runner
Sevan Ikeda (Fremont, Calif.) posted another Top 10 time as he breezed through the 8K course at WinterPlace Park here Saturday as the Bison participated in the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University.
Ikeda finished 16th overall with a time of 26 minutes and 21.80 seconds, which is the eighth fastest in Gallaudet school history, on a humid, wet and overcast afternoon. This was Ikeda's fourth collegiate race and the second on this course. A month ago, Ikeda posted a time of 25:29.20 which is the fourth fastest in program history at the Salisbury University Fall Classic.
Gallaudet's other runners in Saturday's meet were sophomores
Jay Yang (Darien, Ill.) and
Allen Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.), who both posted a personal record time. Yang was 66th with a time of 35:28.00 while Davis placed 72nd with time of 36:48.40. The Bison did not receive a team score since they did not have five runners finish the race.
Delaware State University junior Marian Drazan won the 8K race in 24:37.10 as he finished first out of 77 runners. The host Sea Gulls won the meet as the maroon and gold edged out he U.S. Naval Academy, a Division I program, by one point. Salisbury tallied 33 points with five runners in the Top 10 with the first Sea Gull to finish in second. The Midshipmen had four runners in the top eight with their first crossing the line in third place. Christopher Newport was third with 69 points and The College of New Jersey was a distant fourth (115).
