Bison watch Phoenix rise in four-set match

WASHINGTON – The final week of the 2025 season for the Gallaudet University men's volleyball team features two of the top teams in the United East conference.

The Bison played host to second-place Wilson College on Tuesday night in the Field House and lost a four-set match, 17-25, 10-25, 25-23, 13-25.

Gallaudet (5-16, 2-5 United East) hit negative attack percentages in every set but the third where the Bison finished at .146 with 13 kills. On the flip side, Wilson (13-12, 7-1 United East) hit over .300 percent in the three sets it won and struggled in the third with a .095 attack percentage.

Gallaudet first-year opposite Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) led the way with 12 kills and 10 digs for a double-double to go with two service aces. First-year outside hitter Kodi Lee (Lehi, Utah) tallied eight kills, six digs, two assists and one ace. First-year setter Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) passed out 23 assists, made seven digs, two blocks and three kills. First-year libero Elian Zfati (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made a match-high 23 digs. Middle hitter Tyler Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) made three blocks (two solo) and two aces and outside hitter John Scarboro (Austin, Texas) matched Wascher with three blocks (one solo).

Wilson was paced by Xavier Webber (12 kills, 10 digs) and Demetrius Simmons (11 kills) and setter Satvik Sharma recorded a match-high 41 assists and Jacob McCoy had six blocks. The Phoenix finished with 10 team blocks in the win.

Gallaudet will close out the 2025 season tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2) with a night game at 7 p.m. against first-place Lancaster Bible College (20-7, 7-1 United East) in the Field House.
