WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team dropped its final home regular-season game of the season here Saturday afternoon to Cairn University, 82-71, in a United East conference game in the Field House on Senior Day.

Before the start of the game, the Bison men's basketball program recognized the three seniors on Senior Day. Senior center Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii), senior forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) and senior guard Malosi Viena (Waipahu, Hawaii) were honored by their coaches and teammates as family, friends and Bison Nation looked on. Mbogo finished with a team-best 19 points and grabbed five rebounds. Chung added 14 points along with nine rebounds. Viena tailled 10 points, shooting 8 for 12 from the foul line and swiped three steals.

Gallaudet (2-20, 2-12 United East) jumped out early with a six-point lead in the first eight minutes with a score of 14-8 before Cairn (11-12, 8-6 United East) went on 8-2 run at the 9:16 mark. GU stayed close with the Highlanders before Cairn hit five 3-pointers in the last six minutes to wrap up the first half with a score of 38-29.

Gallaudet made a quick 6-2 run in the second half at the 17:15 mark to cut the Cairn lead down to five points but that was as close as the buff and blue got. The Highlanders outscored the Bison 42-30 over a 15-minute span before Gallaudet went on a 6-0 run in the last two minutes to finish the game down 11 points as time ran out.
