SALEM, Va. – Gallaudet University men's track and field senior
Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) improved on his indoor school record in the long jump here Saturday at the Joe LaRocco in the Cregger Center on the Roanoke College campus.
Douglas leaped 6.68 meters (21 feet, 11 inches) on his sixth and final jump to finish second overall in the event. Douglas' previous school record mark was 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9.50 inches) set back on Dec. 8, 2023, at the Bow Tie Invitational at Ursinus College.
Douglas also participated in the 60-meter dash and placed 27th overall with a time of 7.31 seconds.
Sophomore jumper
Andrew Bibbs (Columbia, S.C.) was fifth in the high jump after he cleared 1.84 meters (six feet, 0.5 inches) and that was his season's best. Bibbs also participated in the triple jump and long jump as he placed 18th overall (11.80 meters) which was his season's best and 39th place (5.17 meters), respectively.
Sophomore thrower
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) placed 10th overall in the shot put with a top throw of 13.22 meters (43 feet 4.5 inches).
Sophomore
Roberto Torres (Miami Gardens, Fla.) was GU's top finisher in the 800-meter run and 1-mile run events. Torres placed 47th in the 800-meter run (2:23.00) and 55th in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:04:33.

Gallaudet will next compete at the United East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 28, in Landover, Md., at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
