VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The 2025-26 men's indoor track and field season began for Gallaudet University here Friday in the Marlins First Chance hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University.
Junior thrower
Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) placed sixth in the weight throw with a new school record after a top toss of 13.14 meters (43 feet, 1.50 inches). Suarez broke the previous school record he held of 12.04 meters at the 2025 United East Indoor Track & Field Championships in Landover, Md., last Feb 28. 2025. Suarez also placed 12th in shot put with a top toss of 10.87 meters (35 feet, 8 inches).
Six Bison participated in the shot put. Junior thrower
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) was the top Bison, who took fourth in the shot put with a top toss of 13.30 meters (43 feet, 7.75 inches).
First year
Kamr McLean (East Orange, N.J.) finished sixth in the high jump with a top leap of 1.80 meters (5 feet, 10.75 inches).
In the running events, sophomore
Joe Bryan (Liberty, Mo.) participated in 60-meter dash and 400-meter dash and finished 7.75 seconds (49th) and 1:00.72 (29th), respectively.
First year
Jason Alford (Dayton, Ohio) ran in the 60-meter dash and finished 50th with a time of 7.76 seconds. Alford also ran in the 200-meter dash and placed 41st with a time of 25.55.
