FOREST, Va. - Gallaudet University senior running back
Carter Johnson (McCall, Idaho) was named to the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Football All-Sportsmanship Team as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
The ODAC All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. Student-athletes selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. The squads are composed of a student-athlete selected by the coaching staffs of each team competing under the conference banner with all sports and schools fully represented.
The 2025 season was the first for Gallaudet football in the ODAC as an associate member. Johnson joins eight other student-athletes on the Football All-Sportsmanship Team. Johnson started and played in GU's nine games this season and was one of the leaders on and off the field for the Bison. Earlier this season, Johnson was Gallaudet's nominee for the
2025 William V. Campbell Trophy where he was selected as a semifinalist.
The ODAC also announced the All-Sportsmanship Teams for the following fall sports; men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball.
"Sportsmanship and respect are fundamental to the ODAC's mission," said ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. "These student-athletes have been recognized for their commitment to fair play and respect for their opponents—qualities that deserve greater recognition. I thank these honorees for setting an outstanding example for all of us.
The ODAC has a rich tradition in promoting fair play and good sportsmanship in each sport across the league. The character of the conference's student-athletes on and off the field is a representation of not only the individuals and teams, but also the institutions for which they play."
