WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's swimming team lost its home opener here Saturday in the Field House pool to Virginia Wesleyan University by the score of 178-29.
Virginia Wesleyan (2-2) swept all 14 events against Gallaudet (0-3) in the non-conference meet.
The Bison participated in 10 events and finished second in four events and finished third in four different events.
Sophomore
Alex Wilding (Santa Fe, N.M) led the way with three second-place finishes. Wilding started his day in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 38.01 seconds and later posted a time of 1:26.68 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Wilding was second in the 100-yard IM (1:19.30).
Junior
Trent Mora (Austin, Texas) was second in the 50-yard backstroke as he touched the wall in 34.22 seconds.
Sophomore
Allen Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) went to work in several long-distance events as he placed third in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle with times of 9:24.62 and 18:44.13, respectively.
GU's two relay teams in the 200-yard medley and freestyle finished third overall.

Elijah Gaston (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore
Driss Oukake (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Wilding and
Bode Aggas (West Henrietta, N.Y.) posted a time of 2:37.25.
The meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay as the Bison team of Mora, Aggas, senior
Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia) and Wilding finished in 2:19.52 to take third.

Gallaudet will begin its Atlantic East Conference schedule next Saturday, Nov. 8, against Immaculata University (2-3, 0-2 Atlantic East) at 1 p.m. in Allentown, Pa., on the campus of Cedar Crest College.
