LANCASTER, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team captured the 2025 United East regular-season title on Tuesday night as the Bison defeated Lancaster Bible College, 3-1, in the Horst Athletic Center.
Gallaudet (22-5, 10-0 United East) picked up its 16th straight win and concluded the United East regular-season schedule with a perfect 10-0 record. The Bison won their 30th straight regular-season conference match and 32nd consecutive United East match (regular season or tournament) dating back to the 2022 season.
While Gallaudet wins the regular-season United East title and would be in position for the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament, the Bison will not participate due to the schedule conflict with the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo taking place at the same time.
"This year was a unique experience for all of us, knowing we wouldn't be playing in the postseason," said Gallaudet coach
Lynn Ray Boren, in his 20th season leading the Bison. "We stayed focused and committed, determined to win the regular season and prove that we're still the best team in the league. We closed the season on an unforgettable note — the players overcame every challenge and showed incredible resilience."
Lancaster Bible (15-10, 7-2 United East) took advantage of Gallaudet's slow start and won the first set 17-25. The Bison posted a .200 hitting percentage, committed three service errors and surrendered four aces in the opening set.
The buff and blue bounced back in the next set, recording 18 kills on 32 swings with only three errors (.469 hitting percentage) and three service aces to regain momentum. Gallaudet carried that energy through the remainder of the match, adding 25 additional kills and two service aces while taking advantage of the Chargers' 18 attack errors. GU swept the final three sets by the score of 25-20, 25-23, 25-14.
