READING, Pa. – It was a memorable day for Senior
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.), who reached 300 career aces as the Gallaudet University women's volleyball team swept Penn St.-Berks, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center.
Gamble, the NCAA Division III leader in service aces, reached the milestone in the first set with her second ace of the match and went on to finish with six total.
Gallaudet (19-5, 7-0 United East) extended its winning streak to 13 matches with a set score of 25-11, 25-11, 25-10 over Nittany Lions (2-19, 2-5 United East).
GU has 47 kills and served 13 aces. The Bison have now totaled 273 service aces through 24 matches, leading all NCAA Division III women's volleyball programs.
Gamble finished the game with 39 assists. Junior outside hitter
Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas), the NCAA Division III leader in kills (389), led all players with 18 kills along with seven digs and three aces. Junior middle hitter
Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) added 10 kills, three blocks, six digs and one ace. Senior outside hitter
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs while senior libero
Nicole Hicks (Corona, Calif.) made a match-high 12 digs.
Madelyn Caris led Penn St.-Berks with three kills and team-high seven digs.
