LEXINGTON, Va. – Gallaudet University traveled to Washington & Lee University on Saturday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football game and lost, 45-0, before a crowd of 521 at Wilson Field.
Gallaudet (1-4, 1-3 ODAC) had a difficult time moving the ball against the stout Washington & Lee (3-3, 3-1 ODAC) squad as the Bison punted eight times, including the first four possessions of the game.
The Generals defense limited the Bison offense to 71 yards and held the buff and blue to negative rushing yards (-16) for the first time in a game since 2015 at Mount Ida (Oct. 3).
On the flip side, the Washington & Lee option offense rushed for 399 yards on 70 carries (5.7 yards per rush), scored five touchdowns on the ground and held the ball for over 37 minutes.
W&L scored 14 points in each of the first three quarters and tacked on a 27-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter. The Generals had six different players score a touchdown. The host led 28-0 at the half.
Senior defensive back
Zefan Nathanson (Manor, Texas) led the Bison with a career-high 17 tackles (10 solo). Fellow senior linebacker
Jacob Hundley (McKee, Ky.) posted a career-high 14 tackles (seven solo). Senior linbebacker
Taran Johnson (Kyle, Texas) tallied a career-high nine tackles (one solo).
GU had a trio of players in
Darico Castillo (Passaic, N.J.),
Lev Shayman (Austin, Texas) and
Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) finish with seven tackles each to set new personal-high marks. First-year defensive lineman
Alen Rubinshteyn (Austin, Texas) wrapped up six tackles for a season and career-high.
Bison sophomore quarterback
Dylan Officer (Fairfax, Va.) completed 7 of 15 passes for 72 yards and got intercepted twice. Senior
Carter Johnson (McCall, Idaho) caught three passes for 25 yards and finished with seven yards on the ground as he led the team in both rushing and receiving yards.
Senior
Andrae' Green (Washington, D.C.) made seven punts that traveled 205 yards (29.3 yards per punt) with a long of 44 yards.
Washington & Lee sophomore running back Dominic Hahn ran the ball 14 times for a game-high 113 yards and one touchdown in the third quarter that made it 35-0.
