Three Bison reach double figures on the road against Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team trailed by 12 points after the first half and never recovered Tuesday night in a United East Conference game at Penn State Harrisburg as the Bison lost, 77-57, in the Capitol Union Building.

Gallaudet (2-17, 2-9 United East) and Penn St.-Harrisburg (13-7, 9-2 United East) played very competitively in the first 15 minutes as the Bison took a lead of 24-22 at the 4:41 mark after first-year guard Brandon Washington (Citronelle, Ala.) made and-one layup. Washington scored nine points off the bench in the first 15 minutes. The Lions took the lead five minutes left in the first half and never looked back after making a 17-4 run with the score of 39-27.

Penn St. Harrisburg continued where it left off in the second half as the Lions outscored the Bison, 38-30.

Gallaudet had three different players in double digits. Senior forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) led Gallaudet with 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and made four 3-pointers. Washington finished the game with a career-high 11 points and six rebounds. First-year guard Jory Valencia (Riverside, Calif) chipped in 11 points and passed out three assists. First-year Wyatt Carlson (Hubertus, Wis.) scored five points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds off the bench.

The Lions had four players in double figures led by freshman guard Kevin Lucas Jr. who scored 21 points off the bench.

Gallaudet will regroup and drive up to the New Jersey to take on St. Elizabeth University (8-11, 6-4 United East) this Saturday, Feb. 1, at 3 p.m. in a conference game. The Bison won the first meeting this season (Jan. 4) with a 73-70 win in Field House.
