MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team dropped an 81-61 United East conference game to Saint Elizabeth University (SEU) here Saturday in St. Joseph's Hall.
Gallaudet (2-18, 2-10 United East) has four regular-season conference games left to make up ground and move up the United East standings. Saint Elizabeth (9-12, 7-5 United East) clinched a playoff berth with today's win.
The shots were going down from outside to start the game as the two teams combined to make four 3-pointers out of five made shots in the first four minutes of play. GU scored the game's first basket on a 3-pointer made by senior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) before SEU responded with 17 straight points.
Saint Elizabeth kept Gallaudet at length for the remainder of the first half and took a 41-26 lead into intermission.
Gallaudet scored the first two baskets of the second half to cut the SEU lead down to 11 points but that was as close as the buff and blue got. The Eagles outscored the Bison 40-31 over the final 18 minutes of play.
Mbogo scored a game-high 21 points as he made 7-of-15 shots from the field including two 3-pointers. Mbogo grabbed five rebounds and made three steals. First-year guard
