NORFOLK, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's soccer (0-3) team fell short against Regent University (3-1) this Saturday afternoon in Virginia.
The Royals asserted their lead without delay as junior Drew Thomas scored the first goal in the 2nd minute of the match. Just before the conclusion of the first half in the 37th minute, senior Cameron Laubach nailed their second goal of the 2-0 game.
Despite the early setback, GU goalie, first year
Luke McBrine (Weymouth, Mass.), did not allow the score to deter him as he went on to make three saves before the end of the initial half. He went on to save four more of Regent's nine shots in the second half and total seven saves in the game.
Gallaudet's three shots (one shot on goal) were outpaced by the Royal's twenty (nine shots on goal). First year
Stokely Karp (Framingham, Mass.) led the Bison with a wide, right first attempt in the 38th minute and was followed shortly after by sophomore
Samson Abraham (Seattle, Wash.) in the 39th minute. Abraham was GU's only shot on goal. By the second period and in the 73rd minute of the game, Karp launched his second shot, the third for the Bison, sending it sailing over the crossbar.
The second half ended just as it began with a 2-0 score sending the Bison home with their third loss of the season.
