GU drops road contest to Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's soccer team lost, 6-0, here Wednesday afternoon to Mary Baldwin University in a non-conference game at SMA Worth Field.

Mary Baldwin (1-5-1) fired a warning shot a minute into the game before Yefferson Hernandez (two goals, one assist) scored the first goal of the game for the Fighting Squirrels in the ninth minute. MBU kept the pressure on the Bison goal with four additional shots than a goal from Edward Headly in the 17th minute before GU tallied its first shot.

Nevertheless, GU kept its energy levels high when first year
Eloi Straub (St. Paul, Minn.) struck a far left shot in retaliation at the 20th minute. As the half came to an end, the Bison continued to attack on offense as first year Stokely Karp (Framingham, Mass.) blasted a shot in the 41st minute.

Gallaudet (1-6) trailed only by two goals, 2-0, at the half.

The Fighting Squirrels started the second half quick with two goals within a minute and a half of each other to increase their advantage to 4-0.

Gallaudet first year Sadam Mohamed (Dadaab, Kenya) fired back with a shot to the right in the 58th minute of the game to begin a pinball effect of shots and goals.

MBU scored its fifth goal in the 62nd minute. Bison sophomore Samson Abraham (Seattle, Wash.) launched a high shot in the 76th minute. The Fighting Squirrels wrapped up their scoring in the 80th minute on a goal from Isaiah Williams.

After a resilient team effort, Gallaudet's four shots were no match for Mary Baldwin's 29. GU sophomore goalie Biruk Tesfaye
(Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) saved five of MBU's 11 shots on goal.
