LANCASTER, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team placed fifth here Friday afternoon at the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible College. GU finished fifth overall with 140 team points.
The United East Conference was well represented as four members ran in the men's 5K race which featured six teams.
McDaniel College won the meet with 21 team points as the Green Terror had five runners in the top seven spots. The host Chargers placed second with 51 points followed by Thaddeus Stevens (74) and Penn State Harrisburg (90). Notre Dame of Maryland University was the sixth (159) and final team in the field.
Lancaster Bible senior Mitchell Gray won the 5K race with a time of 15 minutes, 59.9 seconds out of the 54 runners.
First year
Sincere Vazquez (Hollywood, Fla.) was Gallaudet's first runner to finish the race in 22nd place with a time of 20:07.8. First year
Gabe Cadete (Nashua, N.H.) bounced back from last Friday's meet to finish today's race in 28th place (21:21.1). Senior
Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) was close behind in 29th place by six-thousandths of a second (21:21.7).
First year
Samuel Sanchez (Los Angeles, Calif.) placed 38th (23:03.7) and first year
Driss Oukake (Amsterdam, Netherlands) was 53th overall (37:54.9) to complete the team scoring for GU.
Bison first year
Awais Mughal (Islamabad, Pakistan) finished 54th overall (38:41.6).

The Bison will next travel to WinterPlace Park in Salisbury, Md., to run in the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m..
