GETTYSBURG, Pa. – It was a mix bag performance by Gallaudet University here Saturday on the second day of the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg College.
The Bison women's volleyball team dropped the first match of the day to Bridgewater (Va.) College, 3-1, before they swept York (Pa.) College in straight sets.
Gallaudet (3-1) picked up where they left off on Friday night with an opening set win, 25-18, over the Eagles before they rallied to win the next three sets, 14-25, 23-25, 26-28. The Bison had 10 attack errors in the second and third sets and nine the decisive fourth set as they finished the match with 31 total.
Sophomore outside hitter
Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) led all strikers with 17 kills and added four blocks (one solo). Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 42 assists and made seven digs and three aces. Senior opposite
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) added 10 kills and eight digs in the loss.
The Bison swept past the Spartans 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 in the fourth match of the two-day season-opening tournament.
Gamble passed out 29 assists while Worley and junior outside hitter
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) had 11 kills each. Lummer had a team-high 19 digs while Perry chipped in nine kills.
In four matches, Gamble tallied 162 assists and was named to the all-tournament team.

Gallaudet will participate at the Stevenson University Quad on Friday, Sept. 6, in Owings Mills, Md., at 5 p.m. as the Bison go up against the host Mustangs (3-0).
