GU defeats Messiah for the first time in 12 years as Bison win two at Battlefield Classic

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – It had been a minute since the Gallaudet University women's volleyball team celebrated a win over Messiah College. The two squads met for the fifth time at the Battlefield Classic on Friday evening and the Bison won, 3-2, to defeat the Falcons for the first time since 2012.

Gallaudet (2-0) won the first, third and fifth sets over Messiah; 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-12. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak to the Falcons. GU defeated Messiah, also in five sets, back on Aug. 31, 2012, at the Battlefield Classic. GU is now 2-1 vs. Messiah in five-set matches in the last 12 years.

GU turned around and played a four-set match against Dickinson College and after a tough 18-25 loss in the first set, the Bison swept the Red Devils, 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.
