Gallaudet men's indoor track team sets new Distance Medley Relay school record

SALEM, Va. – School records continue to fall for the Gallaudet University men's indoor track and field team as the Bison participated in the Joe LaRocco Invitational here Saturday in the Cregger Field House hosted by Roanoke College.

Gallaudet All-American sprinter Eric Gregory lowered his indoor school record in the 60-meter dash to 6.89 seconds as he finished fourth overall in the event. Gregory's previous best time was 6.91 seconds set last month (Jan. 26) at the VMI Invitational.

Gregory won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.74 seconds while senior teammate Gareth Ashton (Austin, Texas) finished 10th (52.53).

Gallaudet's Distance Medley Relay team of Kyle D'Amore (Cranberry Township, Pa.), Cristian Martinez-White (Vancouver, Wash.), Samson Abraham (Seattle, Wash.) and Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) posted a new indoor school record time of 12:24.43 as they finished sixth overall. The time is a new school record and shatters the old mark of 15:48.26 that was set back on Feb. 4, 2017, by the quartet of Timothy Olakunle, Gunner Hahn, Joshua Branscomb and Carter Janorschke at the Vince Brown Invitational in Newport News, Va., on the campus of Christopher Newport University.

GU's 4x400 meter relay team of Ashton, Trey Johnson (Kyle, Texas), Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) and Gregory came in sixth with a time of 3:36.01.

In the field events, Liam Painter (Edgewood, N.M.) finished third overall with a top mark of 4.00 meters.

Andrew Bibbs (Columbia, S.C.) had a busy afternoon as he placed 10th in the high jump when he cleared 1.74 meters, posted a 12th finish in the triple jump (11.92 meters) and finished 19th in the long jump (5.61 meters).

First year Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) threw a personal best 10.12 meters in the weight throw as he placed 30th overall.
