Gallaudet falls conference road game to Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Gallaudet University men's basketball team dropped a 85-78 United East Conference game on the road Saturday afternoon to Penn College.

Gallaudet (0-9, 0-3 United East) and Penn College (4-5, 2-0 United East) had seven times by score tied and 10 lead changes. In the second half with time of 3:36 remaining the Wildcats made a 14-7 run to finish the game with a victory.

GU had three different players in double digits led by senior forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) who finished with a team best of 20 points. Mbogo also grabbed eight rebounds and swished eight out of 12 free throws. First-year guard Alex Ortman (Norway, Mich.) scored 15 points, Ortman grabbed five rebounds and added two steals. Junior guard Sophomore Bruce Brewer Jr. (Santa Fe, N.M.) scored 12 points and ripped down five boards for the buff and blue. Brewer Jr. added five assists.

Penn College outscored the Bison by four points in the first half, 39-35, and scored 46 additional points to GU's 43 in the second half.

The Wildcats were led by two guards Livingston Cross and Gavin Barrett who made double-doubles both together, Cross scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Barrett scored 12 points and made 12 assists.

  • Sophomore Kalib Jones (Frederick, Md.) had seven points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench
  • Bison set a new season-high with 78 points
  • GU's 46 team rebounds were also season high
UP NEXT
GU will fly south to Atlanta, Georgia to face Oglethorpe (4-3) on Sunday, Dec. 15 for a 6 p.m. non-conference game.
