Bison men’s basketball team concludes Atlanta trip

ATLANTA – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team dropped a 86-63 non-conference game to Piedmont University here Tuesday afternoon in the Dorough Fieldhouse on the campus of Oglethorpe University.
 
Gallaudet (0-11) played close in the first nine minutes as it only trailed by four points before Piedmont (5-3) took a big lead right before the half, 52-31. The Lions were hot from outside with eight 3-pointers.

GU was able to limit Piedmont's 3-pointers in the second half as the Lions only made 3 of 11 from outside. The Bison finished with 32 points scored in the second half, only two points shy of Piedmont's total of 34.

The Lions made 11 of their 24 3-pointers while the Bison were 2-for-21.

Senior forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) scored a team best 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and passed out three assists and made two blocks. Senior forward Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii) added 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and made two steals. New addition, first-year guard Brandon Washington (Citronelle, Ala.) tallied a career-high seven points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench.
 
Piedmont had four players in double figures led by junior guard Fisher Darden who finished with 19 points and sophomore Israel Hall added 18 points off the bench.

Gallaudet returns to the nation's capital and will rest during Winter Break before coming back for the New Year to prepare for United East Conference play. The Bison (0-3 United East) will host Saint Elizabeth University (3-7, 1-2 United East) on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 3 p.m. in the Field House on Padden Court.
