Bison trio reach double figures against Stevenson

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Gallaudet University lost the consolation game in the Rebecca Martin Memorial Tip-Off Tournament hosted by McDaniel College here Saturday evening to the hands of Stevenson University, 79-52.

A trio of Bison players finished the game in double digits led by senior guard Claire Ruiz-Tucker (Middletown, Md.) with 16 points, senior guard Raj Guettler (Frederick, Md.) chipped in 15 and sophomore Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) added 14. The GU trio scored 86 percent of the Bison offense against the Mustangs.

Stevenson (1-1) outscored Gallaudet (0-2) in every quarter and led 48-29 at the half.

Ruiz-Tucker scored nine of her 16 points in the second quarter and passed out two of her game-high seven assists in the quarter right before halftime. Guettler grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and passed out five assists in the loss. Lexow added five boards and swiped a game-high five steals against the Mustangs.

Stevenson was led by Stephenae Lawrence, who registered 12 points and six of the team's 54 rebounds. The Mustangs dominated the paint with 44 points scored compared to 18 by the Bison, who went 0-for-12 from 3-point range. Stevenson made seven 3-pointers in the win.

McDaniel won the Rebecca Martin Memorial Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday night with an 84-70 win over Geneva College.

Gallaudet will travel north to face Stockton University (1-0) in a non-conference match Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in Galloway, N.J..
