Bison swamp Gators with strong second half play

WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University shot lights out in the second half of Friday's home contest against Russell Sage College as the Bison waltzed to a 66-56 victory in the Field House. 

Gallaudet (2-3) shot 57.1 percent from the field (15 of 29) over the final 20 minutes of play while the Gators were held to just 25 percent (7 of 28). The Bison scored 25 points in the third quarter and outscored Sage, 40-22, in the second half.

Sophomore guard Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) led all-scorers with 24 points, nine rebounds, seven steals, four assists and four blocks. Lexow made 10 of 16 shots from the floor, which included two 3-pointers. Senior guard Raj Guettler (Frederick, Md.) added 12 points, seven boards and five assists. Senior guard Claire Ruiz-Tucker (Middletown, Md.) was the other Bison in double figures with 10 points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal. 

GU led 19-10 after the first quarter by Sage (1-2) outscored the Bison, 24-7, in the second quarter as the Gators led 34-26 at the half.

Sage was led by Malena Gereau and Layla Acosta who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, and the duo grabbed five rebounds each. Acosta added five assists, two steals and one block while Gereau had three assists, two blocks and one steal in the loss.

GU will make a trip across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to Maryland's Eastern Shore tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 23) for a 3 p.m. non-conference game at Washington (Md.) College (3-2).
