FREDERICK, Md. - Gallaudet University senior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) recorded a double-double here Saturday in the men's basketball consolation game of the Battle of D.C. & Maryland tournament held at Hood College. Mbogo scored a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Bison, who lost 80-62 to St. Mary's College of Maryland in the Woodboro Bank Arena.
Gallaudet (0-3) scored the game's first basket but trailed the Seahawks (1-3) the rest of the game. St. Mary's led 46-33 at the half.
The Bison cut the lead to nine points, several times, in the second half but St. Mary's pulled away down the stretch.
Mbogo made 7 of 17 shots from the field including two 3-pointers. The senior forward grabbed seven offensive rebounds and five on the defensive end.Â
First-year guard
Wyatt Carlson (Hubertus, Wis.) came off the bench to net a career-high 11 points as he made 4 of 6 shots from the field. Sophomore guard
Kalib Jones (Frederick, Md.) chipped in nine points, three assists, two rebounds and two steaks in the loss.Â
St. Mary's had four different players in double figures led by James Lerner with 17 points.
