FREDERICK, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team began the Battle of D.C. & Maryland weekend on Friday evening in the Woodboro Bank Arena on the campus of Hood College. The host Blazers defeated the Bison, 107-65.
Gallaudet (0-2) was led offensively by senior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) with a game-high 16 points while first-year guard
Alex Ortman (Norway, Mich.) scored 12 points off the bench. The Bison duo also grabbed three rebounds apiece.Â
Hood (3-0) shot 51.3 percent from the field and sank 20 3-pointers. The Blazers led 53-30 at the half. Jevon Yarbrough led the home team with a game-high 16 points and three 3-pointers. Hood had 11 different players with one 3-pointer made in the game.Â

Gallaudet will face St. Mary's College of Maryland (0-3) in the consolation game tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 16) at 2 p.m.. This will not count as a conference game against the Seahawks, who are a member of the United East. The Seahawks lost, 73-57, to McDaniel College (2-0) in the other Friday evening game. The Green Terror will face the Blazers in the 4 p.m. championship game.
