WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team dispatched Cedar Crest College in straight sets here Wednesday night on Padden Court in the Field House. The Bison won rather easily 25-6, 25-13, 25-5.
What a difference a year makes. Last season, the Bison played the Falcons on their home court and had to fight through a tough four-set match to claim the United East title. Gallaudet won last year 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, 31-29.
The championship rematch on Wednesday was not similar as the Falcons lost several key pieces from last year's conference runner-up squad.
Gallaudet (18-4, 3-0 United East) remains unbeaten in conference play while the Falcons (6-12, 1-2 United East) dropped their second conference match.
The Bison continue to lead NCAA Division III in service aces (264) and added 15 more to their season total 264. This is the 12th match that the Bison have finished in double figures for aces in a match.
Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) led the way with six aces and 38 assists. Sophomore outside hitter
Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) finished with 13 kills, six digs and four aces. Junior libero
