NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's basketball team went down to Newport News to take on Apprentice School on Sunday afternoon and lost, 80-54, at the Apprentice Athletic Center.
Apprentice School (11-3) jumped out early with a 26-11 lead less than eight minutes in and never looked back en route to a victory.
Gallaudet (1-13) cut the lead with a 7-0 run resulting in a 35-28 score on the 2:29 mark. The Builders led 39-29 in the 1st half.
Apprentice School continued where it left off in the second half as the Builders outscored the Bison, 41-25
Gallaudet had two different players in the double digits led by junior
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) who finished with a team best 15 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard
Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) added 10 points. Lewis also added four rebounds and passed four assists. Sophomore guard
Samer Sawan (Toronto, Ontario) scored eight points and grabbed three boards.
The Builders had four players in double figures led by guard Adrion Wall who scored 21 points.

Gallaudet will travel up to Abington, Pa., on Wednesday, Jan. 10, to face Penn St.-Abington (6-8, 0-2 United East) in a conference game at 5:00 p.m.
