WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team played a strong first half to win Saturday's home game, 77-73, over Gwynedd Mercy University in a non-conference contest in the Field House on Padden Court.
Gallaudet (8-6) started with a hot start in the first half with 58.3 percent field goals made and passed out 19 team assists. The Bison led for almost the whole first half, they led for 19:49 minutes.The score was 48-30 at the half.
The Griffins (7-8) stepped up in the second half with multiple runs but not enough as Bison were able to keep the momentum to win the game. GU finished game by making four free throws to secure the win.
Four Bison reached double figures. Senior forward
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the team with 24 points and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. Perry added seven assists and two blocks. Senior guard
Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guettler added three assists. First-year
Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) added 17 points, five assists, four steals and grabbed four rebounds. The fourth and final Bison in double figures was junior
Claire Ruiz-Tucker (Frederick, Md.) with 10 points and grabbed three rebounds and three assists.
The Griffins had four players in double figures led by guard Lynzie Eggers who scored 18 points.
