WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University's service game was on point here Friday on the first day of the 16th annual Worthington Classic hosted by the Bison women's volleyball program.
Gallaudet (14-2) rolled to two wins as the buff and blue swept Cedar Crest College; 25-14, 25-13, 25-16 and turn away the Pratt Institute in four sets; 22-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-12.
The Bison combined to serve up 34 aces in the two matches.
GU had 19 aces against the Falcons (4-7) where nearly half of those aces came from junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.), who had nine aces and 26 assists. Senior
Natalie Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) added four aces while sophomore
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) finished with nine kills.Â
In the nightcap, Gamble led the service game with six aces and 34 assists while Lummer added five service aces and seven kills. Three different Bison had eight kills each in the win.
Former Gallaudet head coach and Athletics Hall of Famer and AVCA Hall of Fame coach
Peg Worthington made an appearance at the first Bison game this afternoon.

GU will turn around and host the second day of the Worthington Classic tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 23) with action starting at 10 a.m. The Bison will go up against DeSales University (5-6) at 10 a.m. in the Field House on Padden Court. If GU wins that match it will advance to the 4 p.m. championship match.Â
