LA TROBE, Pa. – Gallaudet University bounced back here Saturday at the Bearcat Challenge to pick up two women's volleyball wins.
Gallaudet (3-1) started the day with a 3-1 victory over Franciscan University as the Bison dropped the first set, 17-25, but won the next three; 25-19, 25-23, 25-21. GU then turned around to go up against Saint Vincent College, the host of the tournament, and won in straight sets; 25-18, 25-22, 25-19.
The Bison had four players record double figures in kills in the first match. Sophomore
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) led the buff and blue with 12 kills while junior
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) and first year
Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) tallied 11 each. Junior
Anya Pothorski (Columbus, Ohio) rounded things out with 10 kills. Sophomore setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 41 assists and served up two aces. Senior
Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a match-high 24 digs.
In the second match, Perry led the way with 11 kills followed by Pothorski (nine kills) and the pair of Lummer (18 digs) and Zarembka had seven each. Gamble passed out 35 assists and served up three aces. A trio of Bison had 15 or more digs including Lummer and senior
Adele Daniels (Frederick, Md.) with 18 apiece and Sicoli finished with 15. Pothorski was a force at the net with four blocks.
Perry was named to the all-tournament team. Perry tallied 53 kills, 11 digs, seven blocks, four assists to equal 58 points to lead the Bison.

Gallaudet will make the short trip over to Arlington, Va., on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to play Marymount (Va.) University (0-2) at 7 p.m.
