ARLINGTON, Va. - Gallaudet University held a 2-1 lead Wednesday night here at the Converse Family Fieldhouse on the Marymount (Va.) University campus and had the Saints on the ropes after posting its best attack set (.571) of the evening. The Bison won the first set 25-11 and the third set 25-17 and were primed to snap a long losing streak to the Saints before things changed in favor of the home team.
Marymount (1-2) rallied as Gallaudet lost its attack touch and the Saints found theirs to take the final two sets, 11-25 and 11-15, to secure the 3-2 comeback victory.
At the net the buff and blue only had a combined seven kills over the final two sets with a negative attack percentage. The Bison also recorded five of their 16 service errors in the final two sets. On the flipside, the Saints posted 24 kills with an attack percentage over .300.
Junior
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the way with 12 kills and four blocks while senior transfer
Natalie Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) made her debut and tallied 11 kills, six digs and two aces. Sophomore
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) added eight kills and junior
Anya Pothorski (Columbus, Ohio) finished with five blocks. Sophomore setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 27 assists and served up three aces while senior
Leila Sicoli (Austin, Texas) made a team best 23 digs.
Marymount was paced by Kaitlyn Doyle's 21 kills and two blocks along with Alexis Franklin's 36 assists, 10 digs and three aces.
