GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Gallaudet University baseball program earned its second Team Academic Excellence Award as presented by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Gallaudet is one of 457 collegiate programs recognized with this year's 2022-23 award.
Teams were nominated by their head coach, who must be a member of the ABCA, and teams had to post a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale during the 2022-23 academic year. GU, under the direction of head coach Curtis Pride, posted a team GPA of 3.16.
This is Gallaudet's second Team Academic Excellence Award since the ABCA began honoring programs starting back in 2015-16. The last time GU was honored was in 2020-21.
Of the 457 collegiate programs honored by the ABCA nearly 36 percent hail from Division III (163 programs). Only one other conference foe, Saint Elizabeth University, landed on the list. Gallaudet joins the Catholic University of America and Georgetown University as the only programs from the District of Columbia to be honored.
