MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Gallaudet University scored early in both Sunday games against Penn State Harrisburg in a United East Conference doubleheader. The Bison weren't able to hang on as the Lions rallied to win 9-2 and 10-5 to complete the three-game sweep.
Gallaudet (7-20, 1-8 United East) scored two runs in the first game to take an early 2-0 lead. The Bison held the two-run advantage until the third when the Lions scored twice to knot the game at two apiece.
Penn State Harrisburg (18-5, 9-0 United East) broke open the game in the bottom of the fourth with seven runs to chase Bison starting pitcher Brandon Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.). The Lions held on to the seven-run win in the seven-inning game.
Brandon's older brother Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) led the Bison at the plate with a 3-for-3 performance with one run scored.
In the second game, GU struck quick with one run in the first and three in the third to jump out on the Lions, 4-0. Gallaudet added a run in the seventh as the Bison held a 5-2 lead in the nine-inning game.
Penn State Harrisburg, the two-time defending conference champions, rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead away from the Bison, 7-5. The Lions added three runs in the eighth as they doubled up the Bison, 10-5.
Freshman shortstop Darico Castillo (Passaic, N.J.) led the buff and blue with a 4-for-5 line and Darren Drolsbaugh added another three hits, including one double, and scored twice in the loss.
GU starting pitcher Austin Sliva-Wynne (Rosenberg, Texas) got the Bison into the seventh as he recorded six strikeouts in 6.2 innings tossed.

GU returns home to host Lancaster Bible College (4-16, 2-7 United East) in a three-game series at Hoy Field. The first game will be played on Friday, April 7, at 6 p.m. under the lights.
