Box Score FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Gallaudet University baseball team lost 23-3 to Wheaton (Ill.) College here Saturday at the Lawnwood Baseball Complex.
Gallaudet (6-9) got on the scoreboard in the second inning when junior catcher Salvador Diaz (Norwalk, Calif.) singled to start things off. Two batters later, freshman shortstop Darico Castillo (Passaic, N.J.) doubled home Diaz for GU's first run of the game.
Castillo came through with a RBI single in the fourth inning to plate Diaz to give the Bison three runs.
Wheaton (4-6) scored five runs in the fourth and added to its lead with two runs in the sixth and broke the game open with sevens runs in the seventh as the Thunder led 17-3. Wheaton went on to add five runs in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Senior Austin Sliva-Wynne (Rosenberg, Texas)Â took the loss on the mound as he threw six innings.Â
