Box Score 2 FORT PIERCE, Fla. - The Gallaudet University baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Norwich University here Friday afternoon at a sunny and warm Lawnwood Baseball Complex in Florida to begin the Spring Break trip for the Bison. Gallaudet defeated Norwich in the second game, 5-1, as the Cadets rallied to win the first game, 8-7.
Gallaudet (6-8) scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning in the first game against Norwich (5-7) to tie the game at 7-7. The Bison left a runner at second base as the Cadets got out of the inning. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Norwich pushed across an eighth run to retake the lead, 8-7.
In the top of the seventh inning, Gallaudet junior Shea Sliva-Wynne (Rosenberg, Texas) singled and stole a base to get into scoring position with one out. The next two Bison batters struck out and grounded out to end the contest.
Junior catcher Salvador Diaz (Norwalk, Calif.) recorded a double, a two-run single and scored one run while senior outfielder Austin Sliva-Wynne (Rosenberg, Texas) singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in a run. Senior third baseman Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) hit a triple and drew two walks and scored on those walks in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.
Freshman Brandon Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) started on the mound for the Bison in the first game and threw a complete game.
In the second game, Gallaudet jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning as the Bison manufactured three runs. The Cadets got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning but that was its only run of the game.
Gallaudet added two additional runs in the fourth inning to increase the lead to four, 5-1.
Sophomore Johnathan Guerrero (Indio, Calif.) got the start and picked up the win while Darren Drolsbaugh came in late to help close things out.

Gallaudet will face Wheaton (Ill.) College (3-6) tomorrow (Saturday, March 11) morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Lawnwood Baseball Complex.
