Brown nets career-high on the road at Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Freshman guard Olivia Brown (St. Augustine, Fla.) scored a career-high 17 points Saturday in Gallaudet University's road game at Penn State Harrisburg in a United East Conference women's basketball game in the Capital Union Building. In the end, the host Lions won the game, 71-50.

Gallaudet (7-16, 6-8 United East) trailed 7-0 quickly as Penn State Harrisburg (14-9, 11-3 United East) made its first three baskets. The Bison outscored the Lions 14-13 before Penn State Harrisburg drained back-to-back 3-pointers to close out the first quarter up 26-14.

The second quarter was a close frame as the Lions held a three-point advantage, 11-8, as they took a 37-22 lead into halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg doubled up Gallaudet in the third quarter, 22-11, while the Bison outscored the Lions, 17-12 in the fourth quarter.

Brown led all-scorers with 17 points, eight rebounds and one assist. Junior forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) was held to 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal. Sophomore forward Hannah Puent (Indianapolis, Ind.) chipped in five points and grabbed 10 rebounds while junior guard Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) recorded two points but ripped down a game-high 11 boards.

The Bison outrebounded the Lions, 57 to 26, and scored 32 points in the paint. The Lions scored 31 points off 35 GU turnovers. 

The Lions were led by Bailey Oehmig and Olivia Richardson who scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

UP NEXT
GU returns home to host Wells College (0-22, 0-13 United East) on Friday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Field House on Pink Night. The Bison will wear pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness and fans are encouraged to do the same to show their support.
