ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Gallaudet men's basketball team earned its first win of the season, 73-57, over Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) College in the Harold J. Brodie Classic on Saturday afternoon at Clark Gymnasium on the campus of RIT.
Bryant & Stratton (2-7) trailed 5-4 at the 16:34 mark then Gallaudet (1-11) erupted with a 14-0 run to take a comfortable lead with an 18-5 score at the 12:53 mark. After that, GU cruised to lead 35-17 into halftime.
GU shot 56.67% in the second half as the Bison scored 38 points to secure the win.Â
Gallaudet had four different players in double digits. Junior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) had a double-double with a team best 17 points and 13 rebounds and six assists. Junior forward
Brandon Chung (Kahului, Hawaii) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Samer Sawan (Toronto, Ontario) added 12 points. Sawan swished four from 3-point range off the bench, grabbed four rebounds and passed out two assists.
The Bobcats had three players in double figures led by guards Marcus Zappia and Deandre Floyd, who scored 17 points each.Â

- First-year forward Ta'Zel Jones (Covington, La.) added 12 points and grabbed four rebounds
- Sophomore Bruce Brewer Jr. (Santa Fe, N.M.) added seven points and six assists
- GU set a new season-high for points scored (73) and rebounds (47)
UP NEXT
Gallaudet will travel down to Longwood University (8-1) on Monday, Dec. 11, for a 11 a.m. game in Farmville, Va., against the Division I team.Â
