WASHINGTON - The 2023-24 Gallaudet University women's basketball team made its season debut in the Field House on Padden Court here Tuesday evening against Roanoke College. The Maroons jumped out to an early lead and never looked back en route to a 68-32 non-conference victory.
Gallaudet (2-2) was held to just two field goals in the first and third quarters while Roanoke (2-2) made seven field goals in three of the four quarters against the Bison.
Roanoke led 15-4 after the first quarter and took a 35-15 lead into halftime. GU was outscored 33-17 in the second half.
First-year forward
Cam Lexow (Abington, Pa.) scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed four rebounds, made three steals and two blocks to lead the Bison. Junior guard
Claire Ruiz-Tucker (Frederick, Md.) added 12 points and four assists and first-year guard
Ashley Harlicker (Shenandoah, Texas) grabbed a game- and career-high 12 rebounds.
Roanoke received 47 points from its bench led by Alexa Kulakowski's 14-point game. The Maroons scored 28 points off turnovers and 42 points in the paint. Roanoke held a 51-37 edge in rebounds, which includes 20 offensive boards that led to 20 second-chance points.

GU will next travel to Marymount (Va.) University (4-2) on Sunday, Nov. 26, for a 1 p.m. non-conference game against the Saints.
