2023 NCAA Division III women's volleyball tournament Gallaudet vs. Wesleyan first round information

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team departed Wednesday for Baltimore in preparations of its first round match in the 2023 NCAA Division III women's volleyball championship. The Bison (31-3) will go up against No. 16 Wesleyan (Conn.) University (22-1) on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.

Gallaudet won its ninth United East Conference championship to earn the automatic qualifier bid into the NCAA tournament. GU is making its 14th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the first since 2021. This is the 10th time GU has appeared in the NCAA tournament under head coach Lynn Ray Boren, who is now in his 18th season.

Wesleyan (Conn.) won its second New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship last Saturday and brings an 11-match win streak into Thursday's showdown with the Bison, who have won 16 straight. The Cardinals are making their seventh overall appearance in the NCAA tournament where they sport a 9-6 record.

This will be the first meeting between the Bison and the Cardinals. Gallaudet and Wesleyan do not have any common opponents played this season.

The winner will advance to Friday's second round which begins at 4:30 p.m. 

FAN BUS

Gallaudet will provide a Fan Bus for 50 Bison students. If you are a current Gallaudet student and want to ride on the Fan Bus you must be at the Mighty Bison Statue, out in front of the Field House, tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 16) before 12:00 p.m. The bus will leave at noon and will not make any stops until it arrives at Johns Hopkins University (roughly 1:00 p.m.). Please bring money for your ticket and any food of merchandise you want to purchase. The bus should return to campus at 5:30 p.m. 

TICKETS  

Tickets will go on sale 60 minutes before the start of the first match each day and will not be sold in advance. There are no complimentary tickets available due to NCAA rules. 

Single-Day Tickets:  $10 (Adults), $8 (Seniors & Students from participating schools with ID), $5 (kids under 12)
All-Sessions Tickets:  $20 (Adults), $12 (Seniors & Students from participating schools with ID), $8 (kids under 12)
(children aged two and under are free with paying adult)
