MEDIA, Pa. - It was a rough start for the Gallaudet University men's soccer team on the road Wednesday at Penn St.-Brandywine as the host scored three goals in the opening 10 minutes and never looked back en route to a 8-0 non-conference win.
Gallaudet (0-9) dug an early hole as the Lions scored 35 seconds into the game and added goals at the four- and 10-minute marks. The host took a 5-0 lead into halftime and held a 9-3 edge in shots.
In the second half, both teams increased their shot totals (13-7 in favor of the Lions) but the Bison could not get a shot past Brandywine goalie William Manarpaac (three saves). The Lions added three more goals to improve their season record to 7-3-2 overall.
Gallaudet defender
Jonathon Waterman (Redding, Calif.) led the buff and blue with five shots (one on goal) while the combination of
Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) and
Vershon Carter (Chicago, Ill.) combined to make six saves.
