WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team coasted to a 3-0 victory over Hood College here Thursday night on Padden Court in the Field House. GU took the straight-set win; 25-18, 25-11, 25-19.
Gallaudet (19-3) finished with a strong attack percentage (.265) after a third set where the Bison posted a .353 percentage with 17 kills on 34 swings and only three errors. Senior outside hitterÂ
Natalie Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) and junior middle hitter
Anya Pothorski (Columbus, Ohio) led the GU with nine kills each. Clayberg added 11 digs and four service aces. Junior opposite
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) added eight kills and six blocks (one solo). Junior setter
Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 33 assists and sophomore libero
Nicole Hicks (Corona, Calif.) made a team-high 12 digs. Senior outside hitter
Adele Daniels (Frederick, Md.) was the third Bison in double figures for digs with 10. Sophomore outside hitterÂ
Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) added seven kills on 20 swings with only one error (.300 percentage).Â
Hood (7-14) was led by MacKenzi Wright who recorded five of their seven kills in the first set while setter Jackie Malitzki passed out 13 assists in the loss.
This was the second time this season these two schools faced each other. Gallaudet swept Hood, 3-0, back on September 8 at the Shenandoah Invitational.Â
