AURORA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team picked up its first United East Conference win of the season here Friday night with a resounding 77-18 victory over Wells College at the Schwartz Athletic Center.
Gallaudet (2-9, 1-1 United East) dominated in all facets of the game as the Bison shot 49.3 percent from the field and tallied 56 points in the paint. GU shot 73.6 percent (14-for-19) from the field in the first quarter as 26 of its 29 points came down in the paint.
The Bison scored the game's first eight points and then used a 17-0 run to take a 25-2 lead with 2:22 left in the first quarter.
Gallaudet took a 40-11 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Bison outscored the Express 37-7.
The Bison had five players finish the game in double figures. Junior forward
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the Bison with 23 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.
Sophomores
Jewel Rocha (Austin, Texas) and
Anya Pothorski (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished with 11 points each while junior
Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) and freshman
Bree Goldstein (Riverside, Calif.) recorded 10 points apiece in the win.
Freshman
Olivia Brown (St. Augustine, Fla.) tallied nine points and seven rebounds while sophomore
Shayla Rochette (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in three points with one of the two 3-pointers made by the buff and blue.
Wells (0-11, 0-2 United East) was led by Sydney Bateman, who scored four field goals and finished with nine points.

- Gallaudet has won five straight over the Express
