WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's basketball team dropped a 79-67 United East Conference game to Penn St.-Berks here Friday in the Field House on Coaches vs. Cancer night.
Gallaudet (1-17, 0-9 United East) led for nearly 18 minutes in the first half before Penn St.-Berks (6-10, 4-5 United East) took the lead right before the half, 36-35. The Nittany Lions controlled the second half as they outscored the Bison, 43-32, over the final 20 minutes of play.
The Nittany Lions made seven of their 11 3-pointers in the second half while the Bison went cold from outside (1-for-14).
Senior guard
Preston Kelly (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored a game-high 19 points and passed out nine assists, grabbed six rebounds and made two steals. Sophomore forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) added 12 points and nine boards (career-high) while sophomore
Alex Antsiferov (North Charleston, S.C.) tallied a career-high 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks (career-high) in the loss.
Penn St.-Berks had five players in double figures led by forward Isaiah Cotton, who finished with 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Andre Ballard (six rebounds) and Darik Tannis-Harriet (nine assists, five steals) scored 14 points each off the bench.
UP NEXT
Gallaudet will head north to Lancaster, Pa., on Tuesday, Jan. 31, to take on Lancaster Bible College (11-6, 7-1 United East) in a 7 p.m. conference game. The two teams met two weeks ago as the Chargers won 83-57 in the Field House.
