Tough road contest for Bison against first-place Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa. - It was a long night for the Gallaudet University men's basketball team here Tuesday in the Horst Athletic Center as the Bison went up against Lancaster Bible College, the first-place team in the United East Conference. The Chargers made their first five shots as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead less than three minutes in and never looked back en route to a 85-56 win.

Gallaudet (1-18, 0-10 United East) got to within four points, twice, midway through the first half. Sophomore forward Alex Antsiferov (North Charleston, S.C.) made a layup to cut LBC's lead to 18-14 and a minute later junior guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) drained a 3-pointer as the Bison trailed 21-17 with 9:08 left before halftime. The Chargers closed out the half on a 18-5 run to take a 39-22 lead into intermission.

Lancaster Bible (12-7, 9-1 United East) continued where it left off in the second half as the Chargers outscored the Bison, 46-36, and played 16 players that were suited up.

GU received 27 points from its bench led by sophomore forward Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) with 19 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist. A trio of Bison finished with eight points including; senior guard Preston Kelly (Indianapolis, Ind.), Lewis and Antsiferov (nine rebounds). 

The Chargers were led by Adam Stoltzfus, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in 23 minutes played. Jordan Shewbridge chipped in 13 points in 13 minutes played.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet returns home for two home conference games this weekend. The Bison will play host to Penn College on Friday, Feb. 3, at 5 p.m. in the Field House.
