Box Score WASHINGTON - Under the Friday night lights, the Gallaudet University baseball team started its three-game United East Conference series against Penn State Harrisburg at Hoy Field. The Bison (5-24, 1-12 United East) fell to the Lions (15-14, 11-2 United East) in nine innings, 25-7
GU struck first with one run in the bottom of the first inning as junior Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) led things off with a hard hit to second base. Junior Frank Diaz (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) put down a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher to move Drolsbaugh over to second base. A passed ball allowed Drolsbaugh to scamper another 90 feet to third base before sophomore Salvador Diaz (Norwalk, Calif.) scored Drolsbaugh with a ground out.
The Lions scored 23 unanswered runs from the second to seventh innings. Gallaudet outscored Penn State Harrisburg 6-2 over the final 2.5 innings of play.
Sophomores Joshua Dugan (San Antonio, Texas) and Bryan Ramos-Navarro (Springfield, Mass.) singled to right field in the seventh and Dugan later scored on a Drolsbaugh double down the right-field line.
