Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's basketball faced a tough task here Saturday afternoon as the Bison went up against the top team in the United East Conference. In the end, Penn State Harrisburg ran past the Bison en route to a 90-57 victory.
Gallaudet (2-20, 2-12 United East) fell behind 6-0 early on before the Bison made back-to-back 3-pointers to knot the game at six. GU took the lead four different times in a seven-minute stretch, its last was 14-12 at the 11:33 mark of the first half. The Lions then used a 13-4 run to take a 25-18 lead. GU cut the lead to four points, three different times, before Penn State Harrisburg (20-2, 13-1 United East) hit some key shots down the stretch to take a 40-28 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Gallaudet was outscored 50-29.
Junior guard Corey Smith (Miami, Fla.) led the Bison with 13 points, two rebounds and two assists. Sophomore guard Rory Lewis (Frederick, Md.) was the other Bison in double figures with 10 points, two rebounds and one assist. Freshman center Alex Antsiferov (North Charleston, S.C.) came off the bench to add eight points and five rebounds.
Three different Bison scored six points each off the bench in the second half including senior Shawn Daniels (Lakeland, Fla.) and freshmen Jake Schwall (Fishers, Ind.) and Jeremiah Davis (Milwaukee, Wis.).
Penn State Harrisburg's starting five scored 13 or more points each. Senior forward Pedro Rodriguez led the Lions with 20 points, five steals and four rebounds. Fellow senior Zegary Scott III added 18 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals.
