WASHINGTON – It was a festive day in the Field House as the Gallaudet University women's basketball team celebrated its first win of the 2022-23 season as the Bison defeated Trinity Washington University, 74-65.
The Gallaudet coaching staff was decked out in their holiday sweaters while Deaf Santa Claus made a halftime appearance with Gally The Bison to greet families and children. Deaf Santa Claus stuck around and cheered on the Bison as they dominated the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Junior forward
Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) scored a career-high 34 points and seven assists and ripped down a season best 16 rebounds and made seven blocks. Perry recorded a double-double in the first half with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She made six of her seven blocks in the second half.
Gallaudet (1-8) outscored Trinity (0-8) in the fourth quarter, 27-18, after the Tigers held a 15-13 edge in the third. The Bison led 34-32 at the half.
Freshman guard
Olivia Brown (St. Augustine, Fla.) scored nine of her 13 points in the second half. Sophomore forward
Hannah Puent (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, both season-high marks and the rebound total is a career best. Puent added five assists as GU passed out a season-high 20 assists. The buff and blue also set season-high marks for points (74), rebounds (53) and field goals (33)
Perry dueled it out with Trinity guard Taryn Yancey who scored a game-high 35 points with 14 points coming from the free-throw line. Yancey grabbed nine rebounds, passed out four assists and made two steals to pace the Tigers. Guard Keisha Cooper added 19 points and Dominique Davis came up with five steals and five rebounds.

- Sophomore center Anya Pothorski (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished with six points, five boards, four assists and one block
- Junior forward Serenity Fry (East Los Angeles, Calif.) scored five points and five rebounds
