Perry makes career best eight blocks against Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team played its best defensive game of the season as the Bison lost a low-scoring game, 52-35, to Stockton University here Saturday evening.

Gallaudet (0-4) bothered Stockton (5-1) when it went to shoot in the offensive zone as the Bison made a season-high 11 blocked shots. Junior forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the way with a career best eight blocked shots. Sophomore guard Shayla Rochette (Worcester, Mass.) added two blocks and sophomore guard Jewel Rocha (Austin, Texas) added one block. The Ospreys were held to their lowest shooting percentage of the season as they only made 19 of 78 shots (24.4 percent). The 19 made field goals ties a season low for Stockton.

Perry finished the game with a double-double as she scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Bree Goldstein (Riverside, Calif.) and Rochette added six points each and freshman forward Olivia Brown (St. Augustine, Fla.) ripped down nine boards to go with three points. Rocha finished with four points, three rebounds and two steals. Sophomore forward Lexi Hill (Tyler, Texas) made her season debut and logged seven minutes.

Stockton was led by guard Adriyana Jennings' 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Ospreys led 30-16 at the half and scored 39 points off 36 turnovers.

Gallaudet will make its home debut on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. against Marymount (Va.) University (6-1) in a non-conference game.
