Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University baseball team swept Clarks Summit University in non-conference doubleheader here Saturday at Hoy Field. The Bison (4-7) won the first game, 3-1, before dominating the Defenders (0-4) in the second contest, 23-2.
Game 1: Gallaudet 3, Clarks Summit 1
Senior pitcher Robersy Delgado (Tampa, Fla.) threw a complete game as he struck out eight batters and allowed four hits through seven innings for his first win of the year.
The Bison started slow out of the gate, falling behind in the third inning, 1-0, as Clarks Summit plated a run. Gallaudet picked up the pace in the sixth inning, adding three runs to pull ahead, 3-1. Junior Ben Meyer (Monroe, Mich) drove in two runs with a single, and sophomore Josh Dugan (San Antonio, Texas) knocked in the third.
Meyers finished the game with two hits and two RBI. Senior Frank Diaz (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) and junior Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) recorded one hit apiece.
Game 2: Gallaudet 23, Clarks Summit 2
Gallaudet plated 10 runs in the third inning to kickstart a 23-2 victory over Clarks Summit in game two. After falling behind, 2-0, in the opening inning, the Bison bounced back in the third and poured on 10 runs to hold a 10-2 advantage. Drolsbaugh brought in the first run with an RBI single to right field. Senior Gilwon Seo (Hongseong, South Korea) followed with single through the right side to plate Drolsbaugh. Both sophomore Mitchell Dolinar (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Dugan knocked in two runs apiece during the rally.
The scoring spree continued in the fourth with six additional runs as GU led 16-2. Seo contributed a two-run double, while Dolinar and sophomore Bryan Ramos-Navarro (Springfield, Mass.) each added a RBI single. The game was put out of reach in the sixth frame when Gallaudet scored seven runs. Five different players had an RBI during the seven-run frame.
The Bison had 10 different players record one or more hits in the second contest, while five players crossed home plate three times. Seo ended with three hits and four RBI. Dugan and Dolinar recorded two hits and three RBI apiece. Drolsbaugh (2-2) pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters.
