Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University made the short trip over to the Brentwood neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon to face The Catholic University of America in a non-conference game. Gallaudet (2-7) scored four runs but the visitors fell short, 19-4, in a seven-inning game.
Catholic (5-4) scored the game's first 16 runs in three innings and never looked back in victory.
GU got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with three runs. The first two Bison batters got out before they rallied for two runs. Senior Frank Diaz (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) singled home fellow senior Austin Altman (Irvine, Calif.) with a RBI single through the right side of the infield. Two batters later, sophomore Josh Dugan (San Antonio, Texas) doubled home Diaz and sophomore Bryan Ramos-Navarro (Springfield, Mass.).
The Bison added one more run in the sixth after they loaded the bases and senior Connor Rosko (Austin, Texas) got his by a pitch to force home a run.
Dugan (0-2) got the start on the mound for the Bison and allowed 16 runs (12 earned) on 12 hits, four walks and struck out one in 2.2 innings worked.
Catholic starting pitcher MJ Dziczkowski (1-0) earned the win as he went four innings where he gave up three unearned runs on three hits, three walks and struck out six.
